In the previous post I installed Debian on a new server. Now it's time to configure it and add it to the cluster. Of course, we want to automate this process. Ansible is my tool of choice for this task.
You are probably familiar with the concept of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). I want my cluster to be created in a repeatable and predictable way. Here's how I prepare new nodes to be added to my cluster using Debian Preseeding.
Some services require persistent storage. You could use hostPath volume or local-storage storage class provided by k3s, but it couples the pod with the node. Longhorn fixes this problem by providing a distributed storage system, but I found it to be slow and unreliable on my low-end hardware. I decided to move my data to a dedicated storage server.
Hosting a public website can be stressful - it's constantly being scanned for vulnerabilities. Today, I'll share how I used Cloudflare Tunnels, CrowdSec, and NGINX to block as many threats as possible so I can sleep peacefully at night.
